Mr. Moore was appointed to his present position in March 2004.
His responsibilities include leading Business Development organizations in Dallas, Texas and Orlando, Florida that support LMMFC’s business interests in Tactical Missiles/Combat Maneuver Systems, and Air and Missile Defense Systems. Business Development functions include all Marketing and Sales activities, strategic planning, new business funds (IR&D/B&P) management, and a variety of other activities needed to sustain and grow the LMMFC business base.
Prior to joining Lockheed Martin, Mr. Moore was Director of Business Development for Boeing’s Missile Defense Systems business unit headquartered in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Moore joined Boeing with the acquisition of Rockwell’s Aerospace & Defense business as Vice President Weapons & Electronic Products. His last position with Rockwell, prior to the Boeing acquisition, was Vice President, Electronics Government Affairs & Marketing for Aerospace & Defense. In addition to the Washington, D.C. office, Mr. Moore had responsibility for eleven other domestic field offices. From June 1994 to October 1995, he served as Vice President Business Development for Rockwell’s Defense Systems Business in Seal Beach, California.
Prior to rejoining Rockwell, Mr. Moore was Vice President of Marketing for Honeywell’s Military Avionics Division in Minneapolis, MN. Here, he was responsible for a broad avionics portfolio including inertial navigation equipment, radar altimeters, helmet mounted displays, flight control and air data computers, and automatic test equipment. From 1983 to 1986 he served as Director of International Marketing for Honeywell’s Aerospace and Defense business based out of Washington, D.C.
Previous service with Rockwell from April 1973 to March, 1983 included positions of Director of Business Development – International Operations, Manager Business Planning and Venture analysis, Manager Program Planning & Control and Senior Auditor – Corporate Internal Audit staff.
Mr. Moore was born August 17, 1945, in San Angelo, Texas. He received a bachelor’s degree in American History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a MBA from Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve as an infantry officer from 1967 to 1973 and was separated with the rank of Captain. Serves on the Advisory Board to the Univ. of Texas – Arlington College of Business; Commencement speaker for the 2005 graduating class.
Thad and his wife Ellen have four children and eight grandchildren. His leisure activities include restoration of antique cars and motorcycles, golf, hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities.
